An atom bomb that blasted in my room !

It was 24th March 2012, Saturday in Chennai when the sun arose pretty early in the morning than  usual and heat was on its peak giving me a feeling of summer touching in India's most humid (and sometimes the hottest) city. Saturday, is supposed to be a holiday for most of the IT companies. But since the new state government has decided to wake us early in the morning (on the weekend also) by gifting its people with a new 'Power Cut' scheme, made me to leave my bed and start for the day. I had some pending official work and there was no electricity, I thought to go to the office and finish  my work till the current also comes back.

I started off at 9:00 am and began with my work there. After some 2 hours, I got a call from Utkarsh (my room mate) informing that some courier has come for me. I had ordered a pair of speakers 2 days back for my room and was less than 48 hours when it reached at my door step. I had done a lot of survey on the internet and groped almost all the e-commerce websites to check for the best deal. At the same time, some thoughts were lingering at the back of my mind how reliable  would the online delivery would be? In India, online shopping has not yet picked up the pace as in other developed countries. People are still scared of making online payments and delivering electronic goods safely at one's doorstep is still not a proven solution.

Finally, I got an enticing deal and I booked a 2.1 speakers (a woofer with 2 satellites). Its an unknown brand called "F and D" which is manufactured in China but has got quite impressing reviews. Technically, a good speakers must have high power output, which determines the sound quality and clarity. Of course it it not always true but a branded speaker having high power out makes it the best. These one has got 60W total output power and the branded ones like Sony, Altec and creative were giving just the of it and price was almost the double. I was dissuaded by my room mates not to go for an unbranded one. But after reviewing all positive comments about these speakers and with the catchy deal could not stop me in placing the order.

Coming back, the moment I got the call, I immediately switch off my laptop, signed out from my office and was so excited to open the box of speakers that I was not even ready to wait for the lift to come to the 6th floor instead I preferred to take the stairs. Going down at the best speed and taking 2 steps down at a time running, gasping and chanting I reached the flat. Its 700 meters from my office and hence I didn't bothered to wait for an auto or a bus also.

I reached home (again climbed the stairs), the heart beats were at its peak, running with almost double than its normal frequency and I could clear feel and hear the "Dhak-Dhak" sound. I pressed the bell so many time that made Utkarsh to rush immediately to open the door. He actually shouted at me for this awkward behavior without any reason; he was agitated as I broke his sleep for no practical reason - it was emotional though !

Searching desperately for the carton box, but was able to locate it and hence again woke up Utkarsh to check where the hell he has place them. He pointed the finger towards the next room and quickly went to that room. Finally, here is the box my speakers.

I decided to open the box in that room itself, finally being generous to not disturb him again. The carton was nicely packed with no external damage which gave me a sense of relieve and confidence that my boxes are likely to be safe inside.

I voraciously opened the box and the very first item on the top was the invoice of the speakers. I put them aside as they were less important for me at the point in time. The, comes the second item which was the main woofer packed between 2 layers of thick thermo sheet. The first word was - WOW....It was so smart by the looks with the black sheen finish at the corners. It was much bigger in size than what I visualized at the time of booking. Finally, I took out the little 2 puppies and the better halves of the system. They were of the expected size.

Now comes the music time. I plugged the speakers and connected my low model mobile which has some variety of songs. I recalled my Mom, who always do some religious things (Puja) before actually using them. But I am not so much inclined to these things; thought its just speakers and consoled myself to start without performing any such things. I started with a rock song by the famous bank - 'Pink Floyd' and the music started..."We don't need no education, We don't need no false control...". The music was amazing and much better than my expectations. The 'base' giving its effects and the the 2 small 'satellites' performing there own job with the crystal clear treble.

Then I kept on changing the tracks from classical to melodies to rock and was almost performing like a DJ tweaking the tracks one after the other. Thereafter, this process went on and on and I was exuberant playing it till the late night. This was a story of an atom bomb that blasted in my room that day !
